Westward Gold (WG-C) just released the most important gold assay results the company has ever posted. The company is looking for another Carlin Style deposit in an area of Nevada surrounded by a herd of giant elephants including Cortez Hills, 10 km away with 5.5 million ounces of gold. The entire Cortez Mine complex shows a total gold endowment of about 60 million ounces. The Cortez Mine includes Cortez Hills, Pipeline and the Crossroads open pit gold mines.

The assays released on August 4th, 2026 revealed numbers from surface trenching of 13.4 meters of 6.55 g/t gold within 34.8 meters of 2.84 g/t Au. That’s just short of the magic 100 gram/meters but Carlin Style deposits average 1.8 g/t to about 2.5 g/t gold. This press release is a giant home run. The company has already drilled two shallow core holes next to the trenching area with assays pending.

I first wrote about Westward in January. Part of what I wrote then was accurate enough that I am including it here.

Their Toiyabe Hills project is about 10 km from Cortez Hills. That’s the deposit part of the now Barrick Gold Cortez gold mine producing about one million ounces of gold a year or over $4 billion gross. Placer Dome was the operator of the JV in 1991 when drilling a condemnation hole they discovered the Pipeline deposit. They followed up their success by discovering the Cortez Hills property in 2002 while drilling another condemnation hole. For some strange reason it is a lot cheaper to drill under a leach pad before filling it up with ore. Placer followed that up in 2004 at Cortez Hills with the discovery of a major gold structural corridor testing at 45 g/t gold over 400 feet. Westward Gold is drilling a tiny six miles from Cortez Hills.

Westward Gold has a team consisting of some of the best and most experienced Nevada Carlin style geos in the world. They remain convinced they are on the edge of a major discovery.

I now believe they have made that massive discovery and with more drill results coming out soon, I think the market will get it.

At Friday’s close the company was worth about $32 million. A 100 gram/meter hole would probably push it ten to fifteen times higher under six months. From a mathematical psychology point of view the stock is excellent value. It will either go to zero or up a whole lot higher. They are in elephant country and this will not be a small discovery.

Westward Gold is using one core drill rig with a pair of holes completed under the trench with assays pending shortly. The 2026 drill program calls for a total of 10,000 meters of drilling. A RC rig just arrived with a 2nd arriving in this month or early September. Some holes will go down 900-1000 meters and many 250-500 meters for an expected 15-20 holes in total. As of March 31st, the company had just over $4 million in the till so this drill program is fully funded.
