Looking for a Gold Needle in a Nevada Hay Stack: Westward GoldBob Moriarty If you were under the impression that in 2025 you were on a wild roller coaster ride driven by a drunken conductor, you ain’t seen nooting yet. On December 1st, 2025 Trump issued a full and complete pardon to the former President of Honduras after his conviction and sentencing in June 2024 to forty-five years in prison. I suppose Trump felt a kinship with him and believed he shouldn’t have received such a harsh sentence for only smuggling over 400 tonnes of cocaine into the US. Trump has now followed up 2025 with his very first war of the year began and ended on January 3rd with the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife now charged with trafficking in cocaine and weapons charges identical to that of the former president of Honduras. Maduro wasn’t actually captured by Delta Force or the US military. Trump bribed everyone he could in the country. They sold Maduro and his wife to the US to be shipped to New York for another show trial. I can’t figure out if this is a rerun of an old Twilight Zone episode or something out of Bizarro World. After claiming for months that the entire issue with Venezuela was about drugs Trump got around to admitting it was all about stealing their natural resources. I have no doubt the citizens of the country will be just fine with that and will forget the eleven years of sanctions that destroyed the country financially. We will figure out this week if China’s position on restricting 70% of the world’s silver is their form of asymmetric warfare in response to the US attack. In any case, Trump hiding behind the skirts of the Monroe Doctrine smells given the fact that he claims neither China nor Russia have a similar right of self defense of their own borders and area of influence. I think Trump is driving the train of the American Empire down a 45% slope loaded with nitro and pedal to the metal on the throttle. Good luck with that. The last couple of weeks have also been a wild ride with the precious metals hitting record highs day after day. I suspect we are about to see who is really driving the price of silver lately. On January 1st China invoked new rules requiring permission to export silver. Given that 70% or so of silver ends up being processed in China, that easily could be a similar lever to that of the REE minerals. China may have just tossed a nuclear hand grenade in the world’s financial system through silver. Certainly, something is blowing up behind the curtains. On the 31st the Fed announced about $75 billion addition to the repo market and $106 billion to the reverse repo market. This is a lot bigger than 2008. Readers have found handy my mentioning the incredibly valuable Daily Sentiment Indicator for gold and silver. I highly suggest serious investors get in touch with Jake and work out a deal. It is the single most valuable sentiment measure I know. As of last Friday, the DSI for Gold was 55 and 67 for silver. Copper is showing at 66. None of those numbers indicate any sort of impending top but remember that is the ten-year bull market from 1971 until 1980 gold went from about $188 in late 1974 to $108 in September of 1976. Even in the most roaring bull market there are brutal corrections. I’ve been waiting months to write this story because I think the company has such incredible potential. With their Toiyabe Hills gold project in Nevada Westward Gold (WG-C) is looking for a needle in a hay stack. But it’s a gold needle in elephant country surrounded by a lot of incredibly rich hay stacks. At today’s price of gold, a one-gram gold needle is worth right at $139. I am very close to the Chairman of the company, Quinton Hennigh, and we have spent a lot of time talking about the project and the potential. Their Toiyabe Hills project is about 10 km from Cortez Hills. That’s the deposit part of the now Barrick Gold Cortez gold mine producing about one million ounces of gold a year or over $4 billion gross. Placer Dome was the operator of the JV in 1991 when drilling a condemnation hole they discovered the Pipeline deposit. They followed up their success by discovering the Cortez Hills property in 2002 while drilling another condemnation hole. For some strange reason it is a lot cheaper to drill under a leach pad before filling it up with ore. Placer followed that up in 2004 at Cortez Hills with the discovery of a major gold structural corridor testing at 45 g/t gold over 400 feet. Westward Gold is drilling a tiny six miles from Cortez Hills. (Click on image to enlarge) Westward Gold has a team consisting of some of the best and most experienced Nevada Carlin style geos in the world. They remain convinced they are on the edge of a major discovery. I’ve told Quinton they may be wasting time and money drilling conventional exploration holes and should go right to a series of condemnation holes. He ignores me a lot. On November 5th of 2025 Westward Gold announced drill results from hole CF25-04 showing 10.7 meters of 0.94 g/t at their Campfire project within the Toiyabe. Quinton pointed out to me that there have been Carlin style discoveries that began with similar assays. Now Westward has to home in on the structural system. On the 22nd of December the company announced results from another three holes from this year’s phase 1 drill program consisting of 7,163 meters of RC drilling. Hole CF25-07 revealed another interesting sniff of gold with 3.1 meters of 0.80 g/t gold. I think the company is a lot closer to making a 100 gram/meter intercept than the market is pricing. Quinton would term that a discovery hole. There are four holes still to be released. Hole 10 looks interesting. The company is sitting on $5 million in the war chest. They can drill 8-10 holes for that kind of money. The drill season is over for 2025 and won’t begin again until June. The company would be open to raising another $5 million in the form of some sort of JV and I strongly feel there are discussions going on right now. With $4200 gold, the dirt in your backyard is probably economic. At Friday’s close the company was worth about $29 million. A 100 gram/meter hole would probably push it ten to fifteen times higher under six months. From a mathematical psychology point of view the stock is excellent value. It will either go to zero or up a whole lot higher. They are in elephant country and this will not be a small discovery. Westward Gold is an advertiser and I own shares so naturally I am biased.
