Algo Grande Delivers High-Grade Copper Again in SonoraBob Moriarty Algo Grande (ALGR-V) began a 7,200 meter fully funded Phase II program in June of 2026. So far, the company has completed about 4,000 meters of the drill program. Assays have been released for the first three holes. Holes 004 to 009 are still pending. On October 28th Algo Grande released assays for hole PH2-3 showing results of 139.81 meters grading 1.3% CuEq from three different skarn horizons. The third horizon they have now called the Margarita skarn is a new gold rich discovery. That discovery tends to support the company thesis that it’s a structurally controlled system at Adelita that had not been previously recognized. (Click on image to enlarge)
Hole 3 was the first test of a target removed from Cerro Grande. To hit a new and unsuspected skarn supports their model that faults crossing the limestone control where skarn forms. Algo Grande has mapped ten structural intersections along the 7 km corridor with similar magnetic signatures comparable to that of Cerro Grande. The Margarita target was the first test of this thesis. While I’m not an expert, I have been to enough projects to have some idea of how they are formed. In this case a magmatic intrusion pushing higher into the mantle bearing traces of mineralization with it. Acidic hot water dissolves some of the minerals and moves higher into the earth. When it hits a layer of something like limestone formed from seashells a zillion years before, the change in chemistry precipitates the minerals out of solution and forms what is called a skarn. In many cases, skarn deposits are related and physically close to porphyries. With the assays already released when ALGR took over the project, clearly there is a nearby porphyry. Investors love porphyries because they want to see intercepts of hundreds of meters of low-grade mineralization. However, skarns while showing shorter intercepts, provide much of all the copper produced due to their much higher grade. Algo Grande Copper is an advertiser.
