Introduction to a Stunning French Songbird

I own a tiny home, a former water mill, in the Southwest corner of France. It’s a beautiful area of the world rich in history. The weather is mild, the food wonderful, the government fucked up.

I’ve made some wonderful friends here. When Barb was still around, she was our social director. When she died, I was doomed to become a lonely hermit or I was going to have to break out of my shell. With all the stupidity going on in the world, the hermit option looks better and better every day. But I opted for making some new friends.

One of the friends I made is stunning.

She also happens to be an incredibly talented songbird and landscape artist. She gets that from her mother, who could be confused as her older sister. She was probably a child bride. Kelly gets her brains and hair from her dad.

Kelly is twenty-seven now but performed on the French version of The Voice in 2018. That video of her singing a Cranberries song racked up over 27 million views so far. Watch it and see if you agree she is a stunning songbird.

Since 2018 Kelly has been doing touring and short concerts. This year she decided she needed to be writing her own songs so she came down to my tiny village to focus on writing. She was staying in the little cottage her father rebuilt out of a forlorn and lonely former barn. He’s pretty talented too, but not nearly as beautiful as she is. The family lives in Bordeaux. He would come down on the weekends and madly work away building the cottage for two years.

I’m pleased to report Kelly released her first single on the 7th July of a song she wrote called Dormir Partout.

She sings under Kelly ou moi so you can either search for Kelly ou moi or Dormir Partout to find her.

Kelly’s family and I are very close. It was a giant honor for me to share some meals, tea and conversations with her in the six weeks she was here writing. I’m going to give you an opportunity to participate in helping Kelly get where she is certainly going. I know the song is in French and most readers will understand it about as little as I do. To listen to the song go to Deezer or Apple Music or Spotify and download the song or purchase via iTunes.

While young, Kelly is one of the more determined and talented people I have ever known. She is going to succeed and by spending about a buck, you can participate in her success.

Kelly’s website is here.

Dormir Partout by Kelly ou moi.

It’s in French naturally but here are the English lyrics.

Sleep everywhere
Sleep everywhere,
even without a pillow
Sleep everywhere, just to wake you up
On the roof of a temple in Tibet
In the human anthill of Bombay
On a Nepalese suspension bridge
Or even lying aboard a sailboat

Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle

Sleep everywhere, even if you have to climb
Sleep everywhere, even if you're sore
On a carpet of a yurt in Mongolia
Even under a bus stop in Paris
Even if it means climbing mountains for hours to see the volcanoes of Ecuador

Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle

Sleep everywhere, at your next door neighbor
Sleep everywhere, perched on top of a rock
Go there just to be amazed
In a luminous Indian palace
Even in the cold on the Faroe Islands
By the fireside in Nord Pas de Calais

Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle

Sleep everywhere, in an indigenous village
A bamboo bed, to do your quarantine in
Go get the northern lights
Go get lost in the rainforest

Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle

Just to feel it under your feet
Just to admire it from below
Just to touch it with your finger
Even if it means risking your life
Without knowing where to spend the night
Saying yes to insomnia
The Survival Blanket
On the Trevi Fountain
On a train to Albania
In a field in Colombia
On a lake in Slovenia
At the Moscow station
In Alaska in an igloo
In the helicopter, in the subway
On your desk, riding a rhino
In your grandmother's vegetable garden
In the depths of the desert
A glass bubble under the lightning
A plank of wood in the open sea
In the gardens of the Alhambra
On the Swedish fjords
On the peaks of the Himalayas, fall asleep and you will see

Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle
Sleep everywhere, here there on the earth (here there on the earth)
Sleep everywhere, never mind if it's a hassle
