WEEKLY CHARTS

Junior Gold Miners chart

  • The underlying fund is managed by Van Eck Global, a New York group with a long history of investing in gold markets.
    .
  • Note that since early in the year, the "Juniors" have outperformed on the upside and did not underperform on the corrections.
    .
  • Beyond any rise in the real price of gold, growth in the sector could be inspired by significant discoveries and takeovers.
    .
  • Big mining companies have been suffering diminished production rates due to insufficient attention to exploration. At one time they had well-funded departments for "grass-roots" exploration.
    .
  • Entrepreneurial exploration geologists in "Juniors" have been successful in carrying out methodical field work. This will continue.
    .
  • Since the 1980s the real price, as recorded by our Gold/Commodities Index, was in a secular bear market until the low of 143 in 2007. At 385 it is in a long bull market and building the conditions for an outstanding gold sector.
