How Obama Won the ElectionSam Mathid I read Spengler. I don't often agree with him, but I do read him. He usually offers a compelling and informed logic, coupled with a rose-petal delicate writing style. 'How Obama Lost the Election' shook some of the dew off the petals. The essay is a fantastic extrapolation based upon the flimsiest of suppositions. In depth, psychological tea leaf readings of Obama's supposed character is, is... well really it's just silly. Psycho babble has nothing to do with reality. Reality is about what actually is happening, or is about to happen. Obama will win this election. The message of 'Change' is meaningless political drivel, but it resonates with the clueless masses. That is a harsh description, but it is also true. The general electorate understands very little of what is going on in the world around them, but even the most intellectually modest understand that something has to change... as in right now in America. The word 'Change' will be uttered more and more by Obama, and the need for change will become ever more pronounced as we approach voting day. The only pitfall is now behind Obama. That pitfall was selecting Clinton as VP. Clinton represents 'No Change' and would have killed off Obama's chances of the presidency. Every person who is in dire financial straits will vote for Obama. That obvious truth escapes Spengler for obvious reasons. When you slip right off the bottom of society's ladder into personal insolvency, you enter a world where either you are wrong, or the politicians are wrong. It is a stark and simple choice. When the politicians are wrong in an area that intrudes so personally on individual and family lives then they do not get voted for. That is a very obvious political truth. McCain stands for more international posturing and belligerence, and more deaths of America's young. He also stands for more and more families becoming impoverished. McCain is not just old, he is old hat. He stands for no change. There is no chance of McCain being a good president. He is rock solid locked into a mindset that brooks no possibility of new thoughts. He is a man of fixed ideas, and those fixed ideas are the very exposed ideas of George Bush and the neo-cons. Couple that with a bad temper and you have a dangerous mix. There is a possibility, albeit slim, of Obama becoming a good president because he is a charismatic man who stands for nothing. As such he has a chance of coming to grips with what is really happening in America right now. He is not committed to anything or anybody other than his own success. McCain has fixed ideas and cannot change anything. Obama has no ideas and can change anything. That is the only message that will come across in November. It is the only message that matters. That is why Obama will win... God help us. Sep 2, 2008 © Sam Mathid 2006-2008 |
